This Regional Review had been prepared by the UNFPA ArabStates Regional Office in commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). It emphasizes the implementation of the ICPD/PoA for accelerating progress towards achievement of the MDGs in the Arab World. The review started with guidelines that were sent to all countries in the region for the preparation of reports on the ICPD+15 and the MDGs. The main purpose of the guidelines was to standardize country reports, and to ensure ownership and contribution by the countries to the regional review process. Moreover, the reporting of the guidelines was intended to help countries to demonstrate synergies and mutual enforcement between ICPD and MDGs.
