Call for Youth Participants

Aiming to set and advance the youth agenda and promote youth, peace and development in Arab states, UNFPA and the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Kingdom of Morocco as well as the Mediterranean Forum for Youth - Morocco / FOMEJE, are convening the first edition of The Youth Forum in the Arab Region in Asilah (Morocco) from 19 to 21 December, 2018.
In this connection, we are pleased to invite Arab young people to attend the forum as participants by filling out this online application before Tuesday 20 November, 2018 (17:00 GMT+2- Cairo Time).

About The Youth Forum in the Arab Region 2018
In view of achieving a transformative quality leap in youth work in Arab countries, there is a need to develop and/or update the approach as well as youth policies and strategies within a framework that upholds their rights, fulfills their potential, as well as, optimize their contribution to sustainable development of their countries. This also warrants the existence of a dedicated, regular, creative and effective dynamic regional space\platform that brings together young people with the various concerned decision makers and other stakeholders to boost dialogue and synergies.
The 2018 Edition of the forum will more particularly focus on the theme of Innovation, Youth, Peace and Security, and thus the following main objectives:
-Establish the space for effective and constructive dialogue among all relevant stakeholders on key adolescents/ youth issues in the region.
-Ensure positive exchanges and cooperation between young people from the region with their peers in both Europe and Africa.
-Present, discuss and define how innovation can be best used to come up with solutions that respond to the needs of Adolescents and Youth.
-Reinforce the role of and contribution of Arab youth in achieving the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Plans.
-Agree on a follow up coordinated and synergistic mechanism that ensures implementation of sound key joint priority actions at country and regional levels.
Forum proceedings:
The forum is based on interactive dialogue and exchange of experience and expertise with emphasis on innovative and implementable solutions to address youth needs. The Forum combines plenary sessions, workshops, working groups, as well as cultural and recreational activities.
Participants:
The forum will bring together young people; as well as, ministries, parliamentarians and other decision makers interested\engaged in youth affairs; youth civil society organizations\networks; other civil society representatives/institutions (including academic and research institutions, artists, private sector, media); United Nations agencies and other development partners.
How to apply: eligibility criteria
The Youth Forum in the Arab Region is an inclusive, rights-based, equitable and representative space of youth representatives\advocates concerned with youth issues and working to address the needs of young people in their respective countries.
- Nationality and residency in an Arab Country.
- Age between 18-29 years. (participants under 18 will be selected from host country).
- Currently involved in youth issues.
- Fluent in Arabic, English, or French.
- Committed to attend the entire forum, as well as some of its envisaged subsequent activities.
- Able to demonstrate how s/he will benefit their community during and after the forum.
