UNFPA expressed grave concern over the shelling in Qah IDP camp

Camp in Syria

Cairo, 22 November 2019 - UNFPA Regional Director for Arab States, Dr. Luay Shabaneh expressed his grave concern over the shelling in Qah IDP camp near the Turkish border in Idlib, Northern Syria where at least 12 people were killed and dozens wounded.

The shelling also caused damages to a UNFPA supported maternity hospital and four humanitarian workers were injured. The maternity hospital is now operating on emergency basis serving injured civilians

Dr. Shabaneh calls once again all parties to abide by the International humanitarian law and protect civilians’ lives and humanitarian worker in the conduct of military operations. He also demanded that medical and civil facilities to be neutralized.
