Amidst rising humanitarian crises, UNFPA is appealing for $1.2 billion in 2023 to reach some 66 million women, girls, and young people in 65 countries. UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem will chair the event, which will feature key partners including the United States (TBC), the United Kingdom, Ashley Judd, UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador, as well as local NGOs from Somalia, Cameroon, and Syria.
As we continue working to provide life saving services and supplies for sexual and reproductive health and prevention and response to gender-based violence, and promoting gender equality and human rights, women and girls are still paying an unacceptably high price in today's crises; from Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan, to Ukraine, Somalia, Ethiopia, and many more countries facing humanitarian emergencies.
This UNFPA appeal is part of the $51.5 billion humanitarian appeal launched yesterday by OCHA, based on inter-agency humanitarian response plans.
