Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) is often overlooked in emergencies – with dire consequences. Pregnant women risk life threatening complications. Women and adolescent girls may lose access to family planning, exposing them to unintended pregnancies. They become more vulnerable to sexual violence and HIV, and may have nowhere to turn as health services are disrupted.

UNFPA calls for the realization of reproductive health and reproductive rights for all and supports access to a wide range of sexual and reproductive health services – including voluntary family planning and maternal health care.

The Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Reproductive Health in Crisis is a set of priority interventions designed to save lives and avert preventable injuries, illness and suffering, particularly among women and girls, at the onset of a crisis. It was developed through the Inter-Agency Working Group on Reproductive Health in Crises, of which UNFPA is a member to advance the sexual and reproductive health of people affected by conflict and natural disaster.

As part of its efforts to increase emergency preparedness measures and be able to respond quickly and effectively at the onset of a crisis, UNFPA is creating a regional roster of expert training consultants for the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) to build the capacity of relevant country level partners within the Arab States region on the implementation of the MISP and the transition to more comprehensive RH services when the situations permits.

UNFPA seeks the application of interested and qualified experts with academic/professional health and/or social development background for an initial 5-day regional Training of Trainers (ToT) on the implementation of the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Reproductive Health in emergencies.  Successful candidates will be selected based on their relevant experience and their willingness and availability to lead country level trainings, and potential inclusion in the regional roster of expert trainers. Interested applicants should be available to deploy at least two times a year for one week each according to UNFPA and its partners' needs and with the mutual agreement of the expert.

Being a regional  MISP trainers' roster member gives you:

·  An opportunity to advance SRH agenda in humanitarian settings;

·  Significant life experiences through challenges and self-development;

.  An exposure to a multi-cultural working environment
