Adolescent girls — defined by the United Nations as girls aged 10-19 — are often overlooked in both development and humanitarian contexts due to the intersectionality of age and gender.
UNFPA Arab States Regional Office is committed to ensuring that adolescent girls in the region are provided with dedicated and needs-based services, including gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health, and are empowered to stand for their rights, to think big, to express themselves freely and to fully participate in the decisions around their bodies, lives, and communities.
This Regional Adolescent Girls Framework for 2023-2025 intends to strengthen, better coordinate, and expand adolescent girl-centred initiatives and programmes in the Arab region. It defines four main objectives that UNFPA commits to support the implementation of the new UNFPA 2022-2025 Strategic Plan in line with the ‘My Body, My Life, My World’ Global Strategy.
